The idea about social responsibility appears bit out of date to me, at least sometimes. I was having this discussion with a friend of mine today. He was saying, “Once a person opens a pharmacy at the locality, he has to keep open his shop late since people might need drugs even if there is no customer!” I don’t know, but this expectation simply lacks logic! Isn’t it a kind of social punishment to the individual for starting drug business instead of starting a grocery shop or may be bakery!

May be my views sound utilitarian! May be it actually is.

Sometimes I keep on wondering about the boundary between duty and favour. As human beings we all do and receive favours. But someone doing favour today doesn’t mean he is bound to do the same tomorrow or the day after tomorrow!

Anyway, nothing is absolute! May be the solution of word’s so many problems isn’t in individualistic philosophy!

Drawbacks and positives: A delicate balance!

What Goes Around……Comes Around Interlude

Justin Timberlake

Hey girl, is he everything you wanted in a man?
You know I gave you the world
You had me in the palm of your hand
So why your love went away
I just can’t seem to understand
Thought it was me and you babe
Me and you until the end
But I guess I was wrong

Don’t want to think about it
Don’t want to talk about it
I’m just so sick about it
Can’t believe it’s ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it
I just can’t do without ya
Tell me is this fair?

Is this the way it’s really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should’ve known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It’s breaking my heart to watch you run around
‘Cause I know that you’re living a lie
That’s okay baby ’cause in time you will find…

What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

Now girl, I remember everything that you claimed
You said that you were moving on now
And maybe I should do the same
Funny thing about that is
I was ready to give you my name
Thought it was me and you, babe
And now, it’s all just a shame
And I guess I was wrong

Don’t want to think about it
Don’t want to talk about it
I’m just so sick about it
Can’t believe it’s ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it
I just can’t do without ya
Can you tell me is this fair?

Is this the way it’s really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should’ve known better when you came around (should’ve known better that you were gonna make me cry)
That you were going to make me cry
Now it’s breaking my heart to watch you run around
‘Cause I know that you’re living a lie
That’s okay baby ’cause in time you will find

What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

What goes around comes around
Yeah
What goes around comes around
You should know that
What goes around comes around
Yeah
What goes around comes around
You should know that

Don’t want to think about it (no)
Don’t want to talk about it
I’m just so sick about it
Can’t believe it’s ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it (yeah)
I just can’t do without ya
Tell me is this fair?

Is this the way it’s really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should’ve known better when you came around (should’ve known better that you were gonna make me cry)
That you were going to make me cry
Now it’s breaking my heart to watch you run around
‘Cause I know that you’re living a lie
But that’s okay baby ’cause in time you will find

What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around

[Comes Around interlude:]

Let me paint this picture for you, baby

You spend your nights alone
And he never comes home
And every time you call him
All you get’s a busy tone
I heard you found out
That he’s doing to you
What you did to me
Ain’t that the way it goes

When you cheated girl
My heart bleeded girl
So it goes without saying that you left me feeling hurt
Just a classic case
A scenario
Tale as old as time
Girl you got what you deserved

And now you want somebody
To cure the lonely nights
You wish you had somebody
That could come and make it right

But girl I ain’t somebody with a lot of sympathy
You’ll see

(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey
(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey
(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey
(What goes around comes back around)
I thought I told ya, hey

[laughs]
See?
You should’ve listened to me, baby
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Because
(What goes around comes back around)
[laughs]

Last night I was experimenting with my brother’s iPod, he suggested me to watch this music video. Generally I don’t like posting materials which aren’t written by me, but I kinda liked this song.

The Irony of Human Judgement

The irony is in spite of the unprecedented notion of human having the most advanced intellectual capability; they are actually illogical, at least in many instances. Their logic and judgement, in some cases, become so biased that it becomes really tough to distinguish between logical conclusions and hidden desires. It’s true that judgement varies individual to individual. But the difference can’t be as unfathomable as it appears in most cases.

Human mind has this uncanny ability to tinker their thoughts, emotions and feelings the way they want. Nevertheless they think the opposite. We say, “I can’t control my emotions” or “I can’t help doing that” but at the end, you can’t because you think you can’t.

The line between right and wrong, just and unjust, true and false is clear to an unbiased mind, but not to a biased one. Unfortunately the latter predominates in the population. The consequence is those who are doing the right are accused of doing the wrong by their peers. Does it matter anyway? Well, some doesn’t bother; some get upset for the time being; but unfortunately there are others who opt to take the path of those peers?

Who is responsible for driving these people to the wrong? Peers or they Themselves!!!

When we are in our good times, we all assume it will last forever. The words “good times” simply doesn’t refer to moments or conditions. It may be applicable to wide ranges of phenomenon… from relationship between people to the events we have cherished. Then again the picture I wanted to draw thus far is in no way the total picture could be drawn or envisaged.

Our life is undeniably complex with plethora of both defined and undefined interactions. Some of these are willingly developed, while others are a manifestation of luck. Sometimes we’re privileged for no reason. Sometimes we’re privileged with fortunes which we don’t deserve. Whether there is a reason or not, whether we deserve it or not, we all audaciously enjoy the fruits of being fortunate and expect it to be continued. To add spice to the curry, we shamelessly yet eloquently forget the fact that without proper nourishment our fortune will annihilate in the limitless boundary of space & time. And yes, the realization comes to us when the final stanza is being versed irreversibly. I would like to say in the voice of Mos Def (Six Days of Remix, Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift Soundtrack), “Tomorrow never comes until it’s too late… ”

Our life and interactions are not merely random events, they have purposes. Whether we rip the benefit of what we have is a matter of making the (theoretically) correct choices at the correct moments and in the correct time frame. There is no point in blaming destiny for losing something valuable but unattended or un-nurtured or unappreciated…. even underappreciated. Gifts are taken away from the undeserved… for some the event is scheduled earlier, while for others it’s momentarily late. And those who are smart learn from the mistakes by the individuals around and their consequences.

Destiny is what you build, Luck is what you achieve and Life is the integration of our actions and their consequences.

The flow of the fourth dimension…

The flow of the fourth dimension...

Simulations… complex ones which interact with each other.

Simulation is like scientific research. I would like to explain using an analogy from my field of expertise. When biologists have new ideas about some drug or physiological processes they try them out in different lower organisms, starting from bacteria to yeast, mouse and even monkeys. It is quite usual to find unexpected results. There goes the difference between theory and practice. You’ve to modify your theories. And sometimes you see something which you’ve never thought before.

We all have our own way of looking into life. We have our perspectives, inspirations and dreams and we plan in our own way to achieve them. There are times when alternate options pop up in our way… we choose one or the other or one of the many others. We do calculations, predict outcomes and at the end we decide for one after detailed cost-benefit analysis. But are these analyses unbiased and give the best result? Well, maybe not. It depends lot on who we are, how we’re nurtured, what are our priorities at the moment of consideration and importantly what we want and what is the price we’re ready to sacrifice. What is right now might turn out to be a wrong decision in the long run. Or maybe the result of your simulation is wrong. Even sometimes you realize the side-effects of your choice, which you ignored or didn’t think of, are actually ruining your life. You realize there were lots of loopholes in your previous assumptions which led to erroneous simulation results. By the time you realize it’s already too late. Unlike science you can’t go back to modify your assumptions or change the choices you’ve made. Some prefer to say it Destiny. I would say, “It’s the reflection of the choices you’ve made.”

But things are quite different if you can have real life simulations. And I guess this is the advantage of knowing people from close. You don’t have to do all the experiments with your own life. You see both the positives and negatives from others’ life. And most importantly you realize stuffs which you would have never thought while compiling your own simulation.

Sometimes you get allured into the apparent excitement, joy and happiness. But sooner you realize it’s not the life which you would choose knowingly for yourself… and sometimes you are grateful for the past you’ve left behind.

Not all are prudent to look that far. Very few of those who have the ability are willing to take the endeavour. Again very few of them are ready to accept the truth. To which group do I belong?

A question to be answered by the flow of the fourth dimension…

Preaching (im)perfectness…

In most instances, the concept of consummate perfectness is itself an illusion which is masked by initial fascination and differential amplification of some characteristics of someone or something ignoring other features. Nevertheless, being perfect in some aspect is not always synonymous to wearing a coat of counterfeit.

Speaking from the perspective of a biologist, there is clearly an advantage in tricking people into believing more than what actually you are. The same rule is applicable to materials since those are, in a way or the other, earthily manifestation of the creator/inventor/possessor of that object.

Often we meet or see people who blaze our eyes with flamboyance, make us feel honoured to meet or know or at least have the mere opportunity to see them directly (in the age of technological advancement, digital means of seeing someone or somebody isn’t considered as an event of luck since we can easily put a Google search and find out in detail.) As an explicit example, we can consider the fact of media icons. Generally we see them as an undisputed illustration of ultimate perfectness. Even their mistakes are preached in some groups of the society. But if you analyze with critical reasoning, things start to fall apart. I would like to mention about a recent research. The research cites that musical stars are more likely to die earlier than average population; the main reason is unhealthy life style, drug abuse and other stuffs. Now, in most instances these facts begin to appear publicly when you are already a star. If you aren’t a star by now, then you actually don’t afford to show the inner imperfectness.

I would like to mention another contemporary event. Britney Spears may be going through toughest time of her life, the break up and children custody case against Kelvin Federline, followed by wardrobe malfunction at a pub, then shaven head, and the most recent hic-cup at MTV Music Awards’2007… adding to her agony her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake had swept the programme with four awards. After all these, many are still thinking of yet another success story with her upcoming album. Think instead, when Britney started to become a pop icon, all these happened… it was more likely that she would have never been able to be a star, let alone present superstar status. Ok, I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve to be a star, she has the talent. I’m simply trying to point out that initially you need to emblaze everyone with your seemingly unchallenged perfectness to make them ignore about other parts later on.

Looking from the point of view of evolutionary strategy, the apparent perfectness is a success story. Once you’ve tricked someone, and s/he is fascinated about you, it takes quite some time to look into the negatives. On the contrary, if you show up the negative sides, it will require great insight to see the hidden positives. And I believe at the end, the truth reigns over everything.

Perfectness might be a mask of fakeness, but imperfectness often is the reflection of reality.

Hope

18-08-2007

Hope is the essence of life.

Life survives despite its hardship, tragedy, and melancholy… the only driving force being hope, for a better tomorrow, for a better future. Even people who don’t have hope thrive with hope… I know it’s funny to say people without hope, but there are really some who are so… like terminally ill patient or the CEO of a recently bankrupt company or someone who has lost everyone…

When we fall from our dreams to reality or from richness of wealth to stringency of poverty, from pleasure to pain, from smoothness to ruffling… the initial shock is absorbed in the matrix of optimism… in the milieu sanguinity… and life gains its pace again. We look forward. Sometimes we feel like we are in the wrong track, sometimes we proceed in the correct direction.

No matter how much hardship one has to endure, the key to recovery is hope and courage… and most importantly you have to learn to enjoy what you’ve instead of what you had or what you could have had…

I was searching for image and found this quote with the image given here…

“There are times when it is hard to believe in the future, when we are temporarily just not brave enough. When this happens, concentrate on the present. Cultivate le petit bonheur (the little happiness) until courage returns. Look forward to the beauty of the next moment, the next hour, the promise of a good meal, sleep, a book, a movie, the likelihood that tonight the stars will shine and tomorrow the sun will shine. Sink roots into the present until the strength grows to think about tomorrow.” – Ardis Whitman

Inequality or Delusion

Actually I came to 360 to change my BLAST… which I’ve changed already.

Going through different 360 pages (one of my favourite pastime… what else we can do now???), I read a comment in a blog which roughly says women brain is lot more complicated than men’s’… Felt like posting a new blog…

I do respect everyone’s right to have their own view, meaning no harm; even then it’s really strange to find these sorts of attitudes. I don’t know how these developed at the first instance. No matter of gender identity, people shamelessly finds pleasure in depicting the other gender as their inferior counterpart without ignoring the fact that there are people of other gender who are far better then him/her in terms of personality…

Sometimes I feel pretty weird. May be bringing gender equality is itself a self delusion…

NB: I would request everyone to take this blog impersonally.

Celebrating others' success...

20-07-2007
1427 BST

There is a distinct advantage in not being the only kid or one of the quite distantly placed kids in a family. It’s not that I’m an advocate of large family or against family planning.

We are four brothers and a sister. Three of us are quite close both in terms of age and relationship. It’s true that throughout our childhood me and my sister were kind of arch rivals. Generally rivalry arose when we had conflict of interest or she wanted some unwanted favour… which she always used to get from my parents… may be I felt that way and still I’ve the same feeling about those days. Either way, I think that was a good learning period of our life, all the three.

Being in a family with closely spaced siblings teaches us how to share our stuffs, advantages, privileges and actually everything. A cooperativeness develops, you know you can’t get all advantages, you learn to share. Today you get something; tomorrow it’s someone else’s turn…

I’ve seen lots of people who have problem with accepting others success… who have problem in sharing stuffs with even people who are quite close… who always think why I’m not the one… who doesn’t know how to care others… who doesn’t know when and how to behave… who can’t think of we instead of I … may be this is because they are not used to these sort of situations…

In a relationship, whatever is it, there is always conflict… but it’s not the part to be focused, rather it is the part to be ignored… Remember there are lots of great moments you’ve shared…

There are lessons in every steps of life… whether you learn or not depends on your will…

Reflection of The Story...

19-07-2007
2152 BST

One’s life philosophy isn’t simply an ideology; it is also reflection of his/her story of life.

Our life builds on memories of past, events that have stamped its permanent presence in our life. Each and every day we face newer situations, we meet new peoples with even newer views and ideologies. We are not only affected simply by their presence in our life but also by their views, nature, lifestyle, choice, preference and so forth.

Generally one’s basic life philosophy doesn’t change much… unless something drastic happens in life… we refer to these focal points as turning points of our life. Whether one confesses or not, we all have turning points. And sometimes we have more than one.

A kid sees everything through a coloured glass… likewise adults also do. But the difference is the glass is differently coloured. Nothing is more shocking than realizing what you believed or what you wanted is not perfect… but then again you learn to accept the fact that nothing is perfect. It’s like metamorphosis of insect larvae… shedding of coloured glasses…

As a human being we all see dreams… life teaches us to accept the reality…
