Attending an exam is not just simply going to the exam hall, answering the questions and returning back. There are so many lessons to be learnt. It is like a life within a life.
When you sit for an exam, you need a preparation. Likewise everything in life requires preparation.
In an exam, you can’t just sit down and keep writing whatever comes up. You have a time limit. You’ve to finish. Likewise everything in life has to be done within the time available for it.
You need set short term goals in both life and exam. You can’t simply plan to complete your exam within three or four hours of allocated time. If this turns out to be your case, then its quite common for you to answer whole bunch of questions (in extreme cases this can account for even 40% of your answers) in last half an hour. Similarly you can’t simply plan to be like Albert Einstein (I prefer to write the name of Linus Pauling instead, but I think most of my readers don’t know much about him) or Adam Smith without having any intermediate goals. The only thing different between life and exam with this regard is you know when your exam will end, but you have no idea about your lifespan.
A good exam requires careful planning. Sometimes things go great even without plan. But remember, that’s the exception proving the rule. Similarly your life also needs a plan. Without plan, you may do great in one step, but overall, unless you’re quite a lucky person, things are bound to be worse.
Answering question and getting mark requires a balance. You can’t go for the best answer in one question and write down others in jumble. Correspondingly in your life, you can’t exchange all the goods for one single best step. A balance should be kept everywhere.
In an exam hall, even if you’ve everything planned, things might go awry. And the most important thing is to tackle the situation. In life, there will be millions of times when things will go desperately wrong… all you need is face it.
No matter whether things are going good or bad, an exam is bound to end. No matter how much light blaze your day, no matter how much darkness masks your morning, it is going to end… today… tomorrow… or the day after tomorrow.
Life has its problems… it has things to cheer as well… so just…
go through it.
