Another thing, you can always check what I am hearing… It’s an HTML feed.

NB: last.fm isn’t an online radio. Rather it sends the names of songs that I hear to their central server. List of songs that I have heard can be seen at

Meeting the Pirates

Couple of days back, in my last blog (Amar Harie Jaoa) I said I haven’t yet been to theatre to watch movie. But I had no idea what was waiting for me. It was a surprise decision. Today six of us went to Cineplex, Basundhara City. Enjoyed Pirates of The Caribbean 2.

When I entered Cineplex, my 1st reaction was “Err…. Why is it so small?” I have never been to a theatre, but I expected larger. Anyway, the string of disappointment continued. The quality of the print wasn’t up to the mark (may be again the expectation was high).

Now about the movie; actually I don’t like these types of movies, fairy tale filled with imaginary powers and spirits. (For the same reason I never enjoyed The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter.) Personal choice!!! Kashfia, Ishtu liked a lot.

Anyway, my 1st theatre visit wasn’t that bad, after all. In life, in most of the times, your expectations aren’t met, the important thing is how much you can take from what you’ve got.

Filled with all sorts of unusuals!!!

It’s oborodh(blockade) today, and I’m the only student present at the Department right now. There is no problem with transportation… I wonder why no one is present !!!

To add to the list of odds, I’m writing this blog using OpenOffice.org from Ubantu, a Linux OS.

We all have Yahoo 360 Team in our favourate list. The team proposes blog topic of the day from time to time. Well, I’m not that regular, even I don’t visit the team blog regularly. But better late than never.

So here goes the list of blog topics suggested (the lower in the list, the older it’s proposed)

1. What’s the best book-to-movie translation you’ve ever seen?

(I do see lots of movies, but reading story or novels… I’ve other books to read. LoL Image)

2. Where were you on September 11, 2001?

(I was in Chittagong. I think I’ll blog later… May be next year.)

3. What did you do on your summer vacation?

(We had 2nd year final exam… So it’s not a vacation at all.)

4. What was the best advice you ever received? What was the worst?

(That’s confusing… Hey, Did I ever get any advice!!!Image)

5. What was the first movie you remember watching in the theater?

(Haven’t yet been to the theatre… Isn’t it strange??? Eka eka to theatre e jete eccha kore na, may be someday with someone Image)

6. What one song underscores THE defining moment of your life?

(Hmmm… That’s an interesting question… Let me think about it… Nah, that should be kept secret. Otherwise, secret out hoye jete pare Image)

7. If you were sucked into the TV and forced to live on a television show for 24 hours, which show would you be on and why?

(Image Hmmm… Tricky question… May be some sort of SciFi… with lots of adventures…)

8. What is your earliest childhood memory?

(This is a good question.)

I’ll start with the 8th one. Actually I had two events in my mind, one involving my Grandfather (That’s the only memory I’ve about him.) The other was a lucky recover of a lost child. I asked mom which event was earlier… she gave her nod to the recovery one.

From my profile you can see I spent significant portion of my life in KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). In fact, I spent more than half of my life there. I was 3 or 4 years old then. We went to Medinah, the city of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). I can still remember the day, but the memory seems kind of blurred. I went to Masjid al-Nabawi with dad. As the prayer started, dad told me to sit down at a place (most probably by the side of a pillar). He started saying his prayer. After a while, I couldn’t find him. I got scared. I started to run between the Quatars (the rows of devotees) searching my dad. Still I was unable to find him.

As far as I can remember, I thought it would be better to search mom. The mosque had a different Female section. So, as far as I remember, I left the Male section for mom. Most probably Tanaeem was with her. Alas!!! I couldn’t find her either. (Finding out her would have been a miracle.) To make things worse, I guess I lost the pillar as well. Thus now Dad also lost me.

That’s the END of my memory.

Mom and Dad says, the manager of the hotel where we were staying found me and took me to the hotel. I guess crying mom grabbed me when she found her son is already at the hotel before them (Mom never told she was crying, but there is no mother who will not shed tear when her son is lost… R amar Ammu to….Image).

Enjoying Being ME

Hi Everyone.

The net connection was down for nearly a week… It was like a week underground Image.

Interestingly lots of things have changed in my life by this time… I’ve got back the ME who used to enjoy reading and learning… It’s been more than two years… Gosh!!! I missed being me.

Life is weird and it’s an amazing stuff. I’ve got my worst result in my life, but interestingly I’m the happiest me in last 6/7 months (may be in a year or so).

Some things in life change, some never. But right now I’m celebrating being me… life seems so wonderful… so amazing. It just feels marvellous.

Passion and Feeling

Passion and feeling is something that comes from inside. You can never create them. But you can ignore them.

Yesterday I was helping four students from our immediate junior batch understand the mechanism of oxidative phosphorylation, actually the coupling of proton flow with ATP generation. I do always enjoy helping others. (Don’t know whether it is good or not, but that comes from my heart.)

I found helping Keya quite interesting. For the 1st time, I saw someone who was amazed at the complexities of life, instead of getting scared thinking about what s/he has to memorize (more or less that’s what happens in our country) before the coming exam.

The chemistry underneath life has always amazed me. Things are quite simple, but collectively they are eligantly complex. I feel so amazed… fascinated… It’s just the feeling, I can never make others understand…

Our education system is a strange one. Here students have to memorize instead of enjoying their study. There is no sign of change… May be there will never be… May be some day… at least we can hope…

National Discipline

National Descipline

As usual, today we (Me, Mejho & Abdullah) went to Baitul Mukarram, the National Mosque for Jummah prayer.  Abdullah enjoys being there, his joy is proportional to the height we had to climb Image. (In general, we have to sit at 2nd floor.)

Nothing new, but I thought I could bring some facts to light.

As a nation, we were never disciplined. We don’t need another testimonial… Today the gathering was larger than previous weeks, may be some organizations had demonstration after the prayer. Whatever, lets move to the point. As a national mosque, Baitul Mukarram is quite large, four storied completely, there are additional arrangements for prayer. The entrance is splendid as well. But the problem is with the people. Those who come early start to fill the entrance instead of going to upstairs. So what happens at the end is there is a huge crowd, people coming from all the directions, but there is hardly space for entering.

I was in Saudi Arabia, we used to go to Mekkah and Medinah weekly. Baitul Mukkaram is a baby compared to gathering at Masjid Ul Haraam. But people are disciplined or the authority was strict. There were defined place for prayer, defined space for walking. We do also have same sort of classification, but we are nonsense. At Masjid Ul Haraam, when Iqamat was announced, people also stood at the walking path, since there can be no gaps between devotees at the time of prayer. It’s ok if u block the walking space at prayer time, since there is no need to walk through. But problem arises when you block the path when people has to use.

Another fact is, as a national mosque Baitul Mukarram should have been more clean. Dirt increases with height. At the fourth floor, if Baitul Mukarram wasn’t a mosque, none would ever have thought about walking in bare feet.

Should have taken my mobile, chobi tule rakha jeto.

We are a strange nation, aren’t we?

NB: Iquamat is an Arabic word, it describes the call for prayer by Muajjin. Picture courtesy: Banglapedia
