From Her’s world…

I was going through different blogs from Bangladesh (or Bangladeshi people.) Mejho went to Chittagong, so virtually I had the whole day to spend in front of pc (there was none to share). That’s what I did actually.

Blog is a place from where you can learn different sort of ideas and things… most importantly about human mind. Human psychology has always fascinated me.

So what were the featured blog topics? (The order is roughly according to frequency.)

1. Friendship

2. Confusion

3. Day to day events

4. Love

More or less as expected. But I think love should have got better ranking. Image

There were lots of interesting pages, some of them I’d added as friend or favourites, or put comment on fantastic blog. Queen of Rain had a great blog-post. She tried to bring front a real situation, an unfortunate attitude in our society.

Basically there were two parts of her post. One is the inequality a girl faces in attitude towards her from the society. The other is, “In general, man regards woman is a counterpart who should always be dominated and suppressed rather than being a complement.” May be some would prefer to deny, some would like to say it’s exaggeration. I’d be happy if it was so. But that’s real scenery.

Most of the male don’t regard woman even as human. Look around, you’ll find lots of examples. They don’t bother what women think. It’s like they are god gifted robots ready to take orders (being extreme).

There was a line in Queen of Rain’s blog stating, most of the boys are ready to accept intelligent and girls with personality as their friends, but not as girlfriends or wife. She is right. When you want to dominate someone, then you would always like to have someone who can be dominated.

I’d a comment on her blog accusing our educational system. My best friend thought that’s not the major cause. May be not the only one, but education system is one of the important medium for combating this. Education system should make the students critical about what they see around. (To be honest, I don’t think there is even a distant possibility for Bangladeshi education system to achieve that level.)

Today morning Tanaeem and I had a discussion on this. Tanaeem thought the change should come from girls. Boys will never understand their situation. Girls should come up and raise their voice. They should stop taking advantage of being girl. The male dominated society is bribing their female counterparts by giving some advantage which is actually disgraceful for them. Like having another line for females in bank or reserved women seats in Jatya Sangsad…… I think the list will be quite long. You can never expect to be treated as an equal entity when you yourself don’t think you as equal.

Another think which I thought important is the segregation of boys and girls at the critical age when personality develops. Since there is the segregation, boys get the traditional view (hajar bochorer chintadhara). Once you have something set in the mind, it’s hard to change. It acts like colour glass. I think you can easily notice the fact from the ongoing debate in comments section of Queen’s post.

If they are given the chance to interact with each other, they will see the other counterpart isn’t that different. They are just human beings with own mind like them.

I think many of my readers wont like my view; they may consider me as feminist. At least I am expecting vehement reaction from half ….

Try to look the world goingfrom a Her’s position. Just be honest to yourself.

A walk through the roads of Destiny,

A flash marvelous, my eyes’re struck,

A realization unleashed, my mind amazed,

A vista opened, my heart excited.

A life previously thought impossible,

A dream neither dreamt nor imagined,

A fear stopped (me from) going further,

Losing someone, eternally valuable.

My heart shattered, ignored and alone,

Still cheering the greatest gift.

Beyond life through life

Lots of words and actions, meetings and debates for nearly a year… yesterday, at last it came true.

Beyond life through life Unveiling the power of gene

It was our 1ts of at least 12 Biotechnology promoting program in collaboration with British Council, Dhaka. The invitees are from schools and colleges in Dhaka.

Behind every event there are lotz of efforts from many. At the end what you see is what all did. I was in the posters and publicity section. I had the job of brochure, four posters… their texts and designs, of course I didn’t design, British Council appointed professional designers.

Right now I don’t have the soft copy of the brochure, as soon as I get it I’ll add to my blog. Writing the text was  a great experience to me. Mehedi (Mahdi) Bhaya helped a great deal. At the beginning, I was in a complete mess. I didn’t know how to start, which way I should go!!! The only thing I knew is we’ll have 4 posters, fortunately I knew the contents of those posters as well.

When you are have to write a brochure, you have to know the target people, the objective of the program. To be honest, I didn’t even know about the objectives. I asked Ashraf Bhaya, ur president, (no comments) many times, those who know him will understand my situation… Lotz of non-specific fuzzy words… made me even more perplexed and confused. Then I went to Mehedi (Mahdi) Bhaya, we set along for nearly 30 minutes, extrapolated the objectives of the function (cause we already knew what’s gonna happen without knowing why Image). Bhaya knows quite a lot, he gave the skeleton. The task was lot easier later…

I knew the introduction and conclusion wasn’t upto the mark, not even near. Mustak Bhaya changed both and gave a nice look. He also added some additional parts. Nadim bhaya gave the final touch. Mustak Bhaya also did the translation to Bengali.

Mustak Bhaya made greater contribution in terms of text, but I’m sure he spent less time than me. He is a regular writer, so he knows the pros and cons Image. Anyway, I did some modifications with the conclusion Mustak Bhaya wrote, at the end it was great, thats what Nadim Bhaya thought.

Collection of pictures from web, going to the Designers, making and approving them was the hardest and the most time consuming part of the whole event. People when get the brochure, see them, they can’t even imagine how much effort was there, how many hours were spent. Besides we had to change many of the pictures at the last moment in order to make sure there was no copyright infringement. At the end, the brochure was great… marvellous… wonderful.

It would be unfair if I don’t mention the names of Anirban Da, Dipak Da, Hasan Bhai: The three designers. They’re great, in fact more than great. We didn’t even know how the time passed by there, hour after hour. They’re so friendly.

I think the copyright stuff was bit my fault. For Mustak Bhaya it’s ok. But I knew all the copyright related problems, I was bit lazy and thought … Anyway, from next time I’ll make things lot easier.

Now about naming the event. Initially it was Unfold the mystery of life, probably given by Shammu, I’m not sure though. Both Mustak Bhaya and I thought the name was conventional and wasn’t that appealing. From that moment, I had the idea of a title which would indicate using life to go beyond the limit of life and the name BEYOND LIFE THROUGH LIFE came up. Ashraf bhaya wanted the word gene. So Mustak Bhaya added a subtitle. Unveiling the power of gene.

In the poster (not the four explanatory ones, rather the publicity one sent to different schools), there was a sentence like Visit the DNA fair, I thought it was obsolete, Mustak Bhaya as well. Headings, titles are something I enjoy quite a lot. When I saw Visit the DNA fair, I knew it would be lot interesting and exciting if it was “Let’s eXplore the opportunities”. We used this motto in conclusion of the brochure as well.

Brochure, poster done. Then we had to do the organizing part. Shammu, Himel, Ishtu, Dikens, Mustak Bhaya, Shashi, me (little bit) and others did. And of course British Council helped, it was their venue.

The event went on smooth. Shammu’s presentation was good, but I don’t think the power point was up to the mark. Besides there were some points missing. And Shammu shouldn’t have made the mitochondrial mistake, that’s a blunder.

Poster session was good as well. Selim Bhaya looked impressive, Rim as usualImage. Himel was wonderful, for the 1st time I relied on her and she responded beyond my expectation. Anyway, I think from the next program, I’ll give lecture in Bengali. That would be better.

It would be a grave mistake if I don’t mention the name of Dikens, the promise breaker. He gave great effort in this event. May be the CD didn’t show up at the 1st show, but hope it will be there from the next one.

I should end the story now. Take Care.

Near to reality

I was going through Wikipedia article on Dreams. Following is what is there

“A dream is the experience of envisioned images, voices, or other sensations during sleep. Dreams often portray events which are impossible or unlikely in reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer, (although some people have reported lucid dreaming, realizing or recognizing a reoccurring dream while they are ‘in it’, and then altering its reality: flying, or other supernatural feats). Many people report experiencing strong emotions while dreaming, and frightening or upsetting dreams are referred to as nightmares. The scientific discipline of dream research is oneirology.”

In most instances we associate dream with imagination and fantasy. But recently I’m having so real dreams; I myself get confused whether was it dream or reality??? Like the dream that day. I woke up and was thinking for nearly 5 minutes, “Am I a chain smoker?” Thanks, realized it’s only a dream.
